Food and wine have been the fascination of all my adult life. I invite you to join me in an exploration of how two ravishing, sensory experiences can be woven together. Wine pairings and wine tastings are at the center of this writing. My style is short and savory, but occasionally we’ll take a longer journey to answer bigger questions.

The writer
I am Joseph Sochor, a chef and culinary educator and, in the last decade, an event coordinator and online content creator. In Chicago, where I lived much of my life, I founded a program for and taught in-person classes in Thai, Indian, and Mexican cuisines. Moving to California 12 years ago has put me in touch with growing food in the backyard, experiencing the bounty of California’s vineyards, and connecting to people for whom cooking, dining, and wine are a passion. When not thinking about the next meal or dish and the next wine to pour, I am out hiking, studying cinema as an independent scholar, and rocking the stereo with classical and every era of popular music.
